Spring 2024 Pesticide Update

We have three new products registered for use in cannabis in 2024! While we are working on updating our spray guides for the year, I thought you might want a sneak peak of the new registrations for the cannabis industry. I’ve summarized their use patterns below, but always be sure to check the official product label before purchasing/using a product to make sure that you have access to the most accurate and updated information. These labels will change unannounced!

Product: Spear T (active ingredient is GS-omega/kappa-Hxtx-Hv1a)

Registration Number: 34679___ PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS ACT

PHI: 0 days

REI: 4 hours, or until sprays have dried

For suppression of two-spotted spider mite in greenhouses or other enclosed structures

SPEAR T is effective on immature and adult life stages of mites. Earlier or younger developmental stages are more susceptible, except for the egg stage (Spear T is not effective on eggs).This product does not have systemic activity, and therefore requires thorough coverage of infested plants. The active ingredient acts largely through contact, functioning as a central nervous system inhibitor of target pests infesting labeled crops.

SPEAR T is mixed with water and applied as a foliar spray. Do not make more than 3 consecutive applications, or more than 6 applications per year. Repeat applications at 3- to 10-day intervals depending on pest activity, and plant growth rate. Under heavy pest pressure conditions, use the shorter spray interval, the higher rate, and/or increase spray volume to improve spray coverage.

Product: Cyclone Plus (active ingredients are citric acid and lactic acid)

For use against powdery mildew in cannabis produced commercially indoors or field grown.

For maximum effectiveness, apply before, or during early stages of infection. Apply in sufficient volume to ensure full coverage for effective control, hitting both sides of the leaf with a fine spray. Do not mix with alkaline or copper-based products.

Repeat applications at 7- to 10-day intervals depending on pest activity, and plant growth rate. Under heavy pest pressure conditions, use the shorter spray interval, the higher rate, and/or increase spray volume to improve spray coverage.

A few of Perennia's team members have taken on the enormous task of re-formatting our current spray guide layout! We are moving away from our word document summaries of all of the products that are listed for a particular commodity group, and towards a more interactive, searchable platform. You still have the capacity to print information if that is your preferred way to access the information, but with now the added flexibility to sort and filter based on exactly what your looking for!
